As a kid, I spent many Saturday afternoons in Grandpa’s garage. It was near the beach and I could smell the ocean. And It was there that I learned what it meant to create something. So many woodworking pieces came out of that garage: drafting desks, cribbage boards, lamp bases and jewelry boxes, just to name a few. He is gone now, but in his later years, he always had at least one ongoing woodworking project. He had a great ability to create something both beautiful and functional. An article was written about him and his work in Fine Woodworking Magazine.

A short while ago, I made this bookcase and this tv cart for my apartment:

As I built these pieces, I remembered some tips he used to tell me. It was as if back then, he knew I would use those tips one day. I guess he left quite an impression on me.
