Cicada Sound Check

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I was watering my plants when I found this dude.

Pretty ugly and about the size of my thumb. So anyway… I googled him. Tibicen Canicularis. He also goes by “Dogday Harvestfly” because he’s seen and heard during the “Dog days of Summer,” when it is most hot.

I haven’t heard him yet, but he’s due to hit the stage soon. Rumor has it he sounds like an electric saw. And hey – chicks dig it. Cicada chicks, that is.

Ok then. I saw these slot machines in Vegas. Look closely for the Death Star.

Rolling Thunder

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

This Memorial Day weekend, I watched a river of bikers flow down Constitution Avenue. I’ve never seen anything like it. Apparently, it happens annually. The hotel clerk called it “rolling thunder.”

With all of the Veterans everywhere, the capitol looked and felt different. It took on a whole new meaning.

The weather in NY has been awesome lately. I’m looking forward to spending more moments like this.

Ice Age: The Meltdown – Hollywood Premiere

Monday, March 20th, 2006

Movie: awesome.
Free hotdog inside: not awesome (no mustard).
Review: OVER.

…just kidding folks! Ther premiere at the Grauman’s Chinese Theare was just a little extravagant. It was SNOWing. Most of the big stars made it and were SNOWmobiled up a white carpet of actual SNOW!

There was an outdoor ice rink in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. It was crazy. Ice Sk8 clip

Full house…Good times. The scrat got some major applause when he hit the screen. The sound, and the effects added so much to the experience. I jumped out of my seat more than once. I’m proud to have worked with such talented people on this movie (read: sniff…tear). I can’t wait to see it again in NY with the whole studio next week and participate in some wrap party berzerking!

L to R: DW Storydude Jed Diffenderfer, BSS Storycrew members Tony Maki, myself RZ, Chris Gilligan, Chris Renaud, and Blue Sky Co-Founder/Top Gun Guru, Carl Ludwig.

Non-Mustached Director Carlos Saldanha, aka ‘top billing’ – the dude man who made it all happen. Great job Carlito! I also need to hug Producer Lori Forte for making another landmark film. Without her none of this would have happened. Great animation, good story, insane looking (fur!) – IA2 was great! Please go see it!

Stache, Day 12

Monday, March 13th, 2006

I admit, I’m starting to feel a little odd in public. Mostly today.

Over the weekend, a big group of us at work chartered a bus and went to Killington, Vermont! The snow wasn’t great by west coast standards- but still a fun time was had by all. I also got to try out a new snowboard: the Ride 164 decade. It rides great!
