VOTE for the COMMERCIAL !!!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

My friend Drew is a top ten semi-finalist for the Heinz Ketchup Contest! Here’s what he has to say:

A ketchup commercial I made a few months ago just recently became a semi-finalist in the Heinz Top this TV challenge. It was picked from 2500 other entries and features Blue Skyers Rafael Zentil and Ben Kilgore! Anyways, check it out at http://topthistv.com/vote.aspx. The title is “Searching for Heinz Ketchup in NYC” by helmethair. Feel free to vote for it … in fact, feel free to vote for it ONCE A DAY from now until April 21st.

Enjoy!

Horton Premiere Ticket

After a couple years of work, this is one exciting weekend. Horton is at a theatre near you and I can’t wait to hear what people think. So far the reviews have been great! I’m proud of the work Blue Sky did on this movie. I bet Dr. Seuss would have liked to watch it with us. Here’s a picture of us at the LA premiere with Carol Burnett. She did an amazing job as the voice of the Kangaroo.

Carol Burnett

What did I do on this film? Well, I storyboarded lots of ideas. One of my little gags is the “YEAH!” guy in the crowd. He seems to get laughs. Another moment is the “We Are Here” chant, which stayed pretty true to the book.

There are two parts in the movie I’m most proud of: the “Hall of Mayors” and “Dentist” sequences. The “Hall” was inspired by an unforgettable visit ten years ago, through a golden corridor in the Vatican, Italy. There were paintings from the floor to the ceiling and as far as you could see. I was very happy with the scope of the sequence when I saw it on the big screen. Most of the paintings are my actual storyboards- which the art department painted. In the “Dentist” sequence I came up with the idea of having the Mayor accidentally take novocain to the arm, causing all the limp arm shenanigans and plenty of laughs!

What a fun movie- I hope you enjoy it!

Dwelling2

I went to visit my good friend in the LBC and bam! He’s building a hideout so nobody can find him, not even his wife.

OK, so what if she can see it from the kitchen?

It’s like a cool tree house for kid… well no. There’s no tree and he’s an adult. But c’mon – you remember that feeling. The finished structure will house his new studio space. It look something like this, except with more huevos.

We Really Dig Each Other

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Early this week, some Italian archeologists discovered these two buried in a 5000 year old embrace. I guess nothing will keep some people apart. Meanwhile, a slushy-icy-stormy-winter-mess is keeping me from driving to see my fiancé. Sorry! Happy Valentines Day!
